The patient suffering from diabetes may become depressed, quiet, and easily disturbed. His capacity for intellectual labor diminishes; he becomes apathetic and indifferent, and lacks his former will-power. A mental enfeeblement simulating a de- mentia may become established. Speech may be imperfectly enunciated and the gait and movements uncertain.
