But succeeded in re- pelling them after a severe conflict in which he lost 18 killed and 123 wounded. The Indians left 37 killed, but took off nearly all their wounded. 17 On ihe 2/th JNIarch, Gen. Jackson, with the troops under his command, proceeded to attack the Indian tribes on the Tallepoosa, and after a severe engage- ment with i, ooo, he succeeded in destroying their works, having killed 557.
