"Well, the man as stuck the papers up said as how some on you was to stop at my house down thar by the creek, and 'ere's the succus lot he picked on." We all scrambled out of the wagon, and Tex, turning to a native who was gazing on us with wide-eyed curiosity, asked him if it was possible to get "a little alke-hol" in the city.
