The botanic description of this plant may be found in most works on thescience of botany: and therefore I shall not detain you with it at thistime. "Mucilage, albumen, or gluten, extractive, a bitter principle, anessential oil, nitrate of potass, which occasions its deflagration, muriate of potass, and a peculiar proximate principle, upon which thevirtues of the plant are supposed to depend, and which has thereforebeen named _Nicotin_.
