Neither in their preachings or their writings would they omit any of thofe pafTages relating to our Saviour's death, though they were accounted the moft difhonourable to his perfon ; which is certainly as great an evidence of their fidelity, as any unprejudiced reafonable mind can expert : and this made Origen to fay, the difciples of Chrift wrote all things with a great deal of candour and love of truth, not concealing from the world thofe paflages of the life of Chrift, which would be accounted moft foolifti and ridiculous.
