He moved to Ala. in The Brockman and Dean Families. 33 1834 and settled in Calhoun, then Benton Co. He was a lawyer and farmer by profession and occupation, and took an active part in poli...tics though declining all official positions for himself. He was a delegate to the Ala. Secession Convention of i860 and took a prominent part in the deliberations of that body and voted for secession. His wife, Margaret, died soon after the birth of her son, John Martin, Jr., and Mr. Crook married Normesia Woodruff. Children : Children of first marriage: 174. i. James 5 , twice m.
