The outstand- ing episodes are the repeated banishment of the Cid, his wars with the Moors, the capture of Valencia which he erects into a kingdom for himself, the outrage of the Cid's sons-in- law, the Infantes of Carrion, upon his daughters (who, by the way, are mythical) and the avenging thereof, with the death of the Cid and the last battle, where his dead body puts the Moors to flight, [is.
