It expands about an inch and a quarter. The antennae are light brownish-yellow, slightly pectinated in the male, and simple in the female. The fore-wings are violet-grey, dusted with dark grey. On the costa are three dark brown streaks, from which run zig-zag transverse lines. Then follows an ochre-yellow band shaded with brownish, and often indistinct towards the inner margin, with a ferruginous streak on its outer side at the costa.
