After his removal, the trustees appointed Mr. C. W. Richmond, then principal of the academy at Great Barrington, Mass. , to fill the vacancy. In this academy, in addition to the common branches of an English edu- cation, instruction is afforded in the languages and natural sciences, including music, drawing and paint- ing. This institution has sent out many competent teachers for our public schools. Upward of 600 different scholars have been members of the school during the past three years.
