The Board of Trade reported in favour of it. The usual result followed, the Bill being thrown out. The lines pro- posed to be constructed were two, one at each end of the Hayle Railway, and both single track, in all 22 miles 6 furlongs in length, and was to be worked partly by locomotives and partly by atmospheric power. In the next year's Bill the capital was increa...sed to, 500, 000, and the Act was obtained on 3d August 1846 to construct a Broad Gauge line from Truro Quay to Penzance, with a branch to the Truro Station of the Cornwall Railway Company ; but the Cornwall Company delayed the construction of their line for so long, that in 1850 an Act was obtained to allow the West Cornwall to construct their line on the Narrow Gauge, and the construction of the West Cornwall Railway was then commenced.
