Mr. Schofield'owTis an estate at Newton and indulges his tastes as a gentleman farmer. Rachel B. Horton, second daughter of Homer Horton, married John McNair, who began busi- ness in Callicoon, N. Y. _ as a lumber merchant. Lu 1870 he went to Shefifield and formed the firm o\ John McNair & Co.. With Horton, Crary & Co. , and C. W. R. Radeker as partners. He engaged in the tanning business and learned the art with Horton, Crary & Co.
