The Pons, a slave ship on the coast of Africa, was captured by an American vessel, in December, 1845, and her cargo of slaves landed at Monrovia, and provided for by the Liberians. She had eight hun- dred and sixty-six slaves on board, eighteen of whom died during the night after the capture.
