PEEFACE.
The following letter is ascribed in the Catalogue of the Tanner MSS. To Sir William Waller. Its real authorship is unmistakable, and if it had fallen into Mr. Bruce's hands it would have formed part of the collection which, after his death, was edited for the Society by Professor Masson. Its importance as showing what were the grounds on which Manchester quarrelled with Cromwell is at once evident.
