The Slaughter at the Falls proved a death Blow to the Hopes of Philip, and from this Time Mif- fortunes clofed thickly upon him. Suddenly, a Man of noble Mien, peculiar in Drefs, venerable in Appearance and manifeftly familiar with military C [ ^^^" ] Affairs, allumed the Command, ordered the Englifli to rally in the Manner beft adapted to meet the preffing Emergency, and by his Voice and Example infpired them to new Adiivity and Courage.
