She was an emaciated old woman who had suffered severely from fever a few weeks previously, but seemed quite pleased to receive her distinguished visitors.

She exhibited the curious and interesting abnormality of two functional nipples... on each of her breasts. I tried to find out if there was a history of the same abnormality in her family, and she told me that her grandfather had had four and the child of one of her sisters four also, but could think of no other instances.

The spears are about seven feet long, and made of some hard wood with a piece of bamboo cut in a wedge-shaped fashion to a sharp point lashed on the end by a piece of rattan ; the shield is about five feet long by one broad, and is composed of three pieces sewn together by coarse stitches of rattan, a middle piece with a large central boss and two wings.
