In the following year, Preble County was erected out of the s. w. corner of Mont- gomery, and Eaton made the county seat. The first private brick residence here, was built the same year (1808,) by Henry Brown, father of Henry L. and of Judge R. P. Brown, on the N. w. corner of Main Street and the alley between Second and Third Streets. It is now the residence of Judge Brown. The Dayton Academy was incorporated the same year.
