What reading level is A Staff Officers Scrapbook During the Russo Japanese War volume 1 book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

At this time also it became apparent that only the Russian right wing had so far been engaged, for at 6. 5 a. M. Their true left showed up on the heights north of Shokorei (marked " C " on the map) to the extent of two companies. At 6. 30 a. M. The Japanese battery, entrenched on the north of the pass, shelled the enemy on this Shokorei ridge. At 8 a. M. Heavy masses of Russians were seen coming up, some to reinforce their right wing and some to prolong the line to the left. The latter moved up... the valley north of Rocky Hill, and offered to the Japanese battery on the heights a regiment moving in column of route by sections, for their shrapnel. Since the battle of Omdurman no such chance has probably been presented to artillery ; and these six Japanese guns took full advantage of it, opening at 3000 yards, and killing 300 Russians in a very few minutes. The battery completely broke the impetus of the Russian advance up the valley north of Rocky Hill, and brought it to a disastrous full stop before a single Russian soldier on this part of the ground had fired off his rifle or even heard the whistle of a rifle bullet.
