During this period they march in procession through the streets, following a decorated bier contain- ing two coffins, round which they occasionally discharge fire-arms to denote the cause, flourish- ing drawn swords, &c. It is extremely danger- ous for a person of a different persuasion to touch any part of this paraphernalia ; for those who accompany it are worked up to such a pitch of fanaticism, that they would not hesitate to sa- crifice him on the spot.
