This important case seems to decide — (1), that this section does not extend the jurisdiction of the inferior Judge, although it excludes review on the merits, in so far as regards cases to which no particular enactment applies ; and (2), that it is competent to bring under this Act a complaint for contravention of a statute which directs or authorises a note of evidence to be taken if summary trial is otherwise competent ; but that the declaration in this section does not affect such cases.
