I do not make this recommendation for the purpose of disparaging the valuable services of the gentlemen who are now, or who have heret...ofore acted on this Board, but because I believe the time has arrived for some action, to simplify the business operation of the Government in this matter.
STREETS.
There has not been during the year as large an amount as usual expended in laying out and widening streets. No im- portant enterprise has been projected, and the action of the Government has been devoted to the examination and adjust- ment of old claims, and to such widenings as have necessarily been occasioned by the erection of new buildings.
