His long experience has made him intimately acquainted with all our diversided interests, and with all our relations, domestic and I'oreign. His view has not been, of necessity, confined to one portion of our country, nor to one department of our government ; but, from the high stations he has occupied, he b...us been able, and been habituated, to extend it over the whole, to take in all the parts, and to regard this entire country as his coun- try, engrossing his warmest attachments, and demanding his faithful services. " We, fellow citizens, have for the last three years, witness- ed his conduct in the office which he has again been recom- mended to fill. In owr view, that conduct has been worthy of approbation. He has not infringed our constitution nor our laws : he has not deprived us of our privileges nor vio- lated our rights : he has administered the laws with a hand so firm and steady, that while they guard our lives and proper- ty, we feel them not.
