Our course now lies toward the interior of Alaska, however, and to reach this, the most traversable highway is the great Yukon, which, rising in the mountains guarding the southeast coast, makes a great curve, analogous to the shape of the shore, and, after flowing over 2, 200 miles, joins the waters of the Bering Sea.
