" A case strikingly illustrating these results was examined by me to-day. The patient was a young married woman who was ALCOHOL AS A MEDICINE. 245 nursing her first child, now nine months old. At the time of her confinement she was in fair health, rather nervous tempera- ment, weight 120 pounds. During the first few days her milk did not flow very freely, and she says her physician advised her to drink beer. Consequently she commenced to drink a glass of beer at each mealtime, and a bottle during the night.
