The geology was dropped in 1855, and t...he chemistry has been retained, the title of director of the chemical laboratory having been subsequently added. The laboratory has been a very suc- cessful branch of the university ; has been frequently en- larged, and is now again undergoing very considerable enlargement, under Professor D.'s direction. It is proba- bly the largest in the United States.
William S. Curtis, provisional professor of moral and intellectual philosophy for one year — 1851-52 — was succes- sively afterward a professor in Hamilton College, and 302 AMERICAN STATE UNIVERSITIES.
