Goodsell then made an elo- quent prayer, after which the Glee Club sang with fine effect, "My Country, 'tis of Thee." Henry J. Scudder, Esq., whose grandfather once owned the ground on which the celebra- tion took place, was introduced, and delivered The Address. At the conclusion of the address the large audience made their way to the tables, near which the fires had been kindled on two im- mense beds of clams, just as the Indians ar- ranged them two hundred years ago. The Indian mode of cooking clams has never been improved on, and Long Islanders will, for this if for nothing else, ever hold them in grateful remembrance.
