The great loss sustained by the enemy at thisplace facilitated the reduction of Fort Duquesne, against which GeneralForbes was advancing with great vigilance and considerable force. Thisfortress the enemy, after a few skirmishes, determined to abandon; andhaving burnt their houses, and destroyed their works, fell down the Ohioriver in boats to their strong-holds erected beyond the Cherokeemountains.
