The frequen...cy of repe- tition does not make it a jot more true, and it may lie over again until further notice; but it may be proper to inquire, what light the scriptures throw upon the assertion of our author.
1. The Bible contains the most ample evidence, that the Jews were accustomed, from their existence as a people, that is, at least, from their going out of Egypt, to make new songs on new occasions, and yet we never hear of .any convulsions among them.
2. The prophets, as we have noticed, and particularly Isaiah, promised a new song to the gospel church, and cal- led upon all the earth to unite in it.
