Figures may easily be copied incorrectly, or even entered on the wrong side of the account. This causes the Ledger record to contain untrue statements of fact, and occasional tests are advisable in order that errors may be detected and corrected. The list of accounts which affords this test is given the technical name of Trial Balance.
