The frequency of the eye accidents corre- sponds with the output variations, especially so during the day shift, but evidently there must be some other agency at work besides that directly dependent on speed of production. Most of the eye accidents are due to metal tornings flying off from the objects turned, and it seems very probable that the operatives tend to bend over their work more when they are working quickly than when working slowly, and so get a much greater proportion of metal turnings into their eyes.
