On the other hand, simultaneous stimulation of the cord from two sources will sometimes result in augmentation of a reflex. This phenomenon, taken in connection with that in which stimulation from two sources inhibits activity, evi- dences a fact of importance on the physiological side- namely, that the activity of any part of the cord may have the effect either of increasing or decreasing the irritability of the cord as a whole. It is also a further indication of the intimate relation existing between all parts of the motor apparatus.
