Respectfully submitted, MARY ELIZABETH CARR, Director, Bedford Civil Defense 74 ANNUAL REPORT ANNUAL REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES OF THE BEDFORD PUBLIC LIBRARY (For Year Ending December 31, 1968) It is surely no exaggeration to report that 1968 was an exciting year in the Bedford PubHc Library. Funds voted at the March Town Meeting made it possible for the work of the new addition to go on at an accelerated pace. There were, of course, the minor frustrations of difficulty in... co-ordination from builder to floor- man to electrician to painter. But through good co-operation and combined efforts, and with a wealth of volunteer help from many public-spirited citizens, the work went on. It was necessary to close the Library for a short time during the greatest upheaval.
But on Sunday afternoon, October 20th, with the bulk of the work completed, Open House was held in the Library, with formal ribbon-cutting ceremonies into the new addition.
As the Town of Bedford grows, as use of the Library continues to grow, we urge you all to realize that further expansion will be necessary.
