Officers, non-commissioned staff 6 Band 33 Field and staff 18 Making a total of all officers 47, and all enlisted men 457, making a grand total of 504. This is a larger number than... we have ever before carried into camp. The strength of the regiment, as shown by the report for that month, was 559 men. Owing' to the short time allowed in which to hold the encampment, I deemed it the part of wisdom to concentrate the efforts on one line of instruction rather than endeavor to turn out a Field Marshal every fifteen minutes. The nature of the drills was Company and Batallion extended order. In this the men showed an aptness which was very gratifying. We did not reach, therefore, the spectacular effect incident to the concentration of a given number of 82 Annual Report companies.
