The most valuable acquisition which has come to enrich the library during the past year is the gift of twenty folio vol- umes of the New Hampshire Sentinel, which completes the file of this publication from its beginning in 1799 to the pres- ent day. The advantage of possessing and the importance of preserving for the future historian so correct a contemporary illustration of the spirit, the persons and the temper of the age as this old publication, almost coeval with the life of the town, cannot be over-estimated.
