Among the things worthy of special mention were in Grade I, the card board pricking, leaf designs, paper novelties, and illustrative drawings; in Grades II and III, the relief maps of North and South America, made of wood pulp; in Grades IV and V, book- lets of songs learned during the year, of history, geog- raphy and spelling examinations each having an appro- priate design on the cover, furniture made by folding paper, and maps, especially those of the United States; in Grades VI and VII, freehand maps and paintings of flowers, particularly of the jack-in-the-pulpit; in Grades VIII and IX, sofa pillows, original designs, requiring much thought, accuracy and patience; in the High School the History Note Books containing outlines, colored maps, notes on Greek and Roman private life, autobiog- raphies of chief citizens illustrated by drawings and printed pictures.
