To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
The number of pupils not absent or tardy for the year has doubled that of last, and is for the most part children who have the longest walk. We hope the coming year will see this number again doubled, when we shall feel that parents are waking up to the necessity of daily attendance. During the year new seats and a hard pine floor have been put in the school room at Crawley's Falls. The North Road school room has been repainted. Also several minor repairs at South Road. The sheds at Crawley's F...alls and Marshall's Corner need to be shingled and the one at South Road needs new sills and other repairs. A new fence is needed at Marshall's Corner. Education is the debt we owe the future generation. Do not let Brentwood be behind other towns in doing its duty. ROLL OF HONOR Pupils not absent or tardy for three terms: Hattie Page, Harry Hoyt, Ruth Colcord, Dorothy Swasey, Helena Swasey, Minnie Haigh, Harry Haigh, Dorothy Haigh, Grace Haigh, Dorothy Bartlett, Elizabeth Flanders, Harold Snyder, Elliot Hoyt.
