The conservation was recommended by the town archivist and an advisory committee, and was approved by the selectmen.
The extensive conservation was performed by the Northeast Document Conservation Center in Andover, MA, one of the leading conservators of documents in the United States. Several steps were taken to assure the stability of this volume, and it was rebound and is stored in a custom-made storage box. This process will assure the longevity of this particular document for generations to come.
