In cooperation with the School Board, the first steps were taken to improve the insurance coverage for the town.
Due to the complex nature of the many types of policies required, expert assistance was sought and has resulted in far more coverage for the town and school properties and personnel, at only slightly increased premiums. These efforts will continue with the aid of one of our own local insurance experts who has volunteered to serve as special insurance ad- visor to the Board of Selectm...en; who is highly qualified in the insurance industry and is in no way affiliated with firms or companies underwriting town policies.
While taxes almost everywhere else increased, our tax rate decreased approximately twelve per cent. The principal reason for this was the very sizable increase in the assessed valuation of Public Service properties. Still, this did not in- clude the much publicized transformer which will be picked up and added to the Utilities 1975 valuation.
Deerfield is very fortunate in having a wealth of talented citizens who have generously donated their time and en- ergies to the benefit of the town and their efforts are greatly appreciated by the Board.
