Salter, M' Phill° Loyd M' Jacob Loockerman C...oH° W" Whit- tinorton, M*^ Mathias Vanderhayden M"^ Edward Dorsey M"" Sam" Young M' Tho^ Greenfield, M"" Elisha Hall and Maj-^ W" Dent are sent up with an answer to his Ex'^'' Speech relateing to the Affaires of New Yorke which is as followeth viz: May it please Your Ex''^ His Ma" Lre: of the 19'^ of lanuary 1701/ 2 and your Ex^^ Speech on that Subject touching a supply of money to New Yorke has been seriously debated and considered and our Loyalty and Duty to his Mat'' haveing carried us on thro' all other difficulty's and obstructions we have resolved on a supply of money to the utmost degree of what we have or cann by any ways or means attaine to w""^ with trouble of minde wee are forced to acknowledge will not amount to above three hundred pounds w'^'' altho' it be not the whole sume menconed Yett it is all we have or cann gett and by w'^'' we are con- strained to leave some just debt of the publick unpaid and our selves in a weake State of defence ag' our cofnon enemy the Indians who are daily anoying our ffrontiers.
