What reading level is Astronomy Without Mathematics book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
And if you carry an empty telescope tube pointed straight up, the rain will not fall through it, but will strike against the back inside : if you want the rain to fall through, you must slope the tube forward, more or less according to your velocity forward compared with that of the rain downward. Then for rain substitute light, and the motion of the earth for your own running, and you know what aberration is. Therefore whenever we are moving directly across the light from any star, it appears ...before its true place by 20" j which = '00001, or the proportion of the ve- locity of the earth to that of light (pp. 36, 86). When we are approaching a star, or receding straight from it, there is evidently no aberration. Therefore stars near the ecliptic oscillate 40" backward and forward every year apparently, in consequence of the real motion of the earth in its orbit. But stars near the poles of the ecliptic are carried round a whole circle of aberration 40" in diameter, neglecting the insignificant ellipticity (not eccentricity) of the earth's orbit.
