W. Clapp, the present manager of the " Daily Jour- nal " [see Journal, The Boston], who con- ducted it with equal ability for 17 years. When he disposed of the property, and became connected with the "Journal, " he was at first saeceeded as editor of the " Gazette " by the late George B. Woods, one of the most brilliant of young Boston journalists, who had been a leading mem- ber of the editorial staff of the " Adver- tiser, " and whose career was cut short by his death when scarcely 30 years o...f age. He was succeeded by the late Warren L. Brigham, also at one time a member of the "Advertiser's" staff, who subse- quently became editor of the "Courier. " [See Courier, The Boston. ] In 1875 the paper was purchased by Col. Henry G. Parker, who since has been its editor and 168 Gazette — General Theological Library.
