"The late law of our Legislature taxing all banks created in this State by an authority other than that of this State, has produced a great excitement in this part of the country — it has called forth the strongest expressions of disapprobation against those who passed it from almost every influential man in this quarter, and their sentiments have been re-echoed by the great mass of the people.
