Recurvirostra americana Gmel. Aroericao Avocet. Found in marshy districts in varying numbers throughout the year. Breeds commonly in the vicinity of the Alamitos swamps and Nigger Slough. A. M. Shields took a set of four fresh eggs at the latter place. May 27 ('92), and W. B. Judson took a similar set, June 26 ('95), in the same locality. Evan Davis reports taking eggs near Santa Ana from May 3 to July 6.
