(3) Delta of Sao Francisco. — ^About 23 mm. This sample is not so even in length as Alagoas cotton generally.
(4) Olhos ...d'Agua do Acioli. — One gin with 40 saws.
(5) CuRURiPE (MunicipaUty of Palmeira dos Indies). — One gin with 50 saws always well sharpened. Length of staple 22 mm. ; pretty regular.
(6) Palmeira dos Indios and Quebrangula. — Sample contained much sand and leaf dirt ; some cotton looked quite dark. The " Verdao " in this sample was on an average 24 mm. ; a hybrid " Verdao " measured 35 mm. and was silky. The " herbaceous " cotton had only 20 mm.
(7) Quebrangula and Vicoza Zone. — The saws of the gin are regularly sharpened once in three months.
