His parents called him Lai-fu which means " Happiness is Come, " because they were so happy when they found they had a boy. There was not much to remember in those days but an empty stomach. That seemed to be the most prominent thing in his little life. Some- where in those days his mother did not get enough to eat and she died. Then, after a few years more, a famine came and carried away his father. His name seemed to represent all the happiness they ever obtained in this world.
