If it had been brought forward before the court-martial in 1862, i...t certainly would have re- lieved me of all suspicion, and of the charge that knowingly I permitted Piatt's brigade and Gritiin's to wander to Cen- treville, and would have tended to destroy the impression of an evil animus on my part.
APPENDIX C. 189 (No. 41a. ) Gen. Sturgis — Please put your command in motion to follow Sykes as soon as he starts. If you know of any other troops who are to join me, I wish you to send them notice to follow you. We march as soon. As we can see.
