The users of 4chan have contributed some of the most notable content of the Internet today, and it’s the birthplace for instance of Anonymous and Internet memes. The way these stories are written can be characterised as abrupt, statement-like internet language that has its own dialect and grammatical rules.... Most of the stories are presented as real events, and without doubt a lot of them are indeed true, but because 4chan.org functions completely anonymously we will never know which of the stories are true, or who wrote them. The stories get their name from the fact that they are written in green colour, achieved by using 4chan’s quote function (which is applied simply by putting a greater-than sign in the beginning of a line). Due to 4chan’s history as an image board, the original stories are very often accompanied by an image that relates to the story.
