Both socialist and capitalist regard wealth from the point of view of earthly possession; both are intent upon material comfort and enjo...yment. Thus both are equally at va- riance with the spirit of the Gospel. With our divine Lord the more perfect way is evidently the renouncing 01 wealth alto- gether so as to be free for God's service; and if this cannot be done, then one must holds one's wealth with a detachment of spirit not at all compatible with the social- ist's thirst for earthly comfort.
Inasmuch, however, as wealth enters into one's earthly life, it must, according to the Gospel, be regarded as a trust, of which the Holder must give an account to God.
