On a farm near Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence County, N. Y. , on the 20th day of May, 1857, was born to Ellen and Martin Martin a son, named Charles, being the ninth of a family of 11 children. In April, 1866, his parents rented their farm and moved to Chicago, where Charles lived the rest of his life.
