The town council was so fright- ened that they made an immediate submission, but they had to pay a fine of two hundred and sixty thousand thalera, besides delivering up one hundred and eighty cannon, and one hundred and sixty hundred-weight of gunpowder. He left behind three regiments to garrison the town.
