A small trade was carried on between Kirin and Ninguta and Korea, but the most valuable articles from those localities, such as sable, sea otter, river otter, lynx-skine, etc., were not allowed to be exported.^ The number of persons authorized to accompany the Korean missions to Peking for purposes of trade, and the quantity of goods they might bring with them, do not appear to have been determined by regulation.
